3 Months in Belize - Caye Caulker

A quarter of a year has now passed since moving to Ambergris Caye, Belize. Reflecting upon the waterfall of information filed into the memory banks, it often feels like years since I left the States. The wave of energy ranges from enthusiasm to bewilderment. I have witnessed global similarities, inadequacies and exceptionalism in this little corner of the world.

High Five-ing Lucky Boy at the Belize Zoo

The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center is located in the Cayo District of Belize, Central America near the Capital of Belmopan. The zoo sits on 29 acres of tropical savanna having over 150 animals which were orphaned, rescued, born at the zoo, rehabilitated, or sent to The Belize Zoo as donations from other zoological institutions.

Mopping What At Midnight?

It was a very hot and humid night. I was awakened by severe itching on my hand and arm and a buzzing in my ear. That mosquito had to go! Unable to exterminate the critter by slapping myself silly when I felt the bite or buzz, I knew my few hours of sleep had ended. It was 11:30 at night and was now wide awake.
