I love the holiday season! I was lucky enough to be able to travel back to the States over the Thanksgiving holiday to see my friends and family. I had a fabulous time. A word to the wise - take at least one warm outfit with you to your island destination if you travel during the winter months. Boots, a coat, sweater, jeans... otherwise you will not be the least bit comfortable when that plane lands and you find yourself dressed in flip-flops and shorts.
The weather in Colorado was great until the cold front moved in the week after Thanksgiving. Record breaking cold weather and snow blanketed the area. -4 for the highs and 16 below for the lows. Brrr..... Needless to say, I was anxious to get back to Ambergris Caye, Belize. Two flight cancellations through Dallas and a midnight flight back through Miami finally accommodated that wish and I was soon back on the island.
Family arrived to spend time with me over Christmas and New Year's. It was fabulous. Christmas Eve we had a scrumptious meal at a restaurant tucked away into a local neighborhood called "Hidden Treasures". The meal and the company was the best!
The little town of San Pedro was bustling with tourists throughout Christmas and New Year's. Although we didn't have the cold and the snow I am accustomed to during the holidays, we did have our share of cool, sometimes rainy, weather.
New Year's Eve brought a barrage of fireworks over the ocean lit off from the docks in the town of San Pedro. We opted to not fight the crowds in town, and enjoyed the display from a dock just a block from the villa. It was quiet, beautiful and peaceful. Moments in time enjoyed by all who joined me for the 2013 and 2014 holiday in the tropics.
